Out of This World Fun at Kingman Wash: Sin City Scuba’s Alien Invasion Dive!

9th Annual Underwater Pumpkin Carving & Haunted Trail Dive Recap

What. A. Day.  Our 9th Annual Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest and Haunted Trail Dive at Kingman Wash was one for the books! Divers showed up in full Halloween spirit — armed with pumpkins, carving tools, and just enough mischief to make the alien invasion theme come alive underwater.

Alien Invasion at Kingman Wash

This year’s theme — Alien Invasion — brought some truly out-of-this-world creations. From UFOs and extraterrestrial jack-o’-lanterns to a few unidentifiable carved objects that may or may not have been from Area 51, every diver put their creativity to the test. Even the ducks were staring.

Once the sun went down, the fun continued on our Haunted Underwater Trail. Divers followed glowing clues and eerie alien relics through the dark, discovering skeletons, glowing pumpkins, and maybe a few surprise visitors from beyond the reef.

And the Winners Are...

After a lot of laughter, judging, and only a few pumpkin casualties, the results are in:

  •  Gold Medal – Jessica – for her amazing underwater scene complete with kelp forest and sharks all on a pumpkin.
  •  Silver Medal – Shelley – for her detailed hammerhead and divers design that somehow survived a full dive intact (teach us your ways!).
  •  Bronze Medal – Dori – for her incredible alien abduction pumpkin that looked suspiciously like it was actually trying to beam someone up.

Raffle Winner: Congratulations to Wade for scoring the grand prize — a brand new Scubapro HUD Dive Computer! Talk about diving into the future.

Big Thanks to Our Crew

None of this would be possible without our amazing Sin City Scuba staff — you kept everything running smoothly above and below the surface. A special shoutout to Donnie for his creative vision and for bringing the Underwater Haunted Trail to life — it was nothing short of epic! And of course, huge thanks to Shea, Caireen, and Corey for helping with the food and keeping everyone fueled for a full day (and night!) of diving and fun. You guys crushed it.

Sin City Scuba Spirit

Events like this remind us why we love our dive community so much — good friends, good vibes, and a shared love for doing weird things underwater. From first-time pumpkin carvers to seasoned divers who come back every year, you all make this event something special.

Big thanks to everyone who joined us, carved pumpkins, cheered, judged, took photos, or just came out to hang with the crew. We’re already scheming up ideas for next year’s theme... so start sharpening those carving tools and polishing your dive lights. Resistance is futile — for pumpkins!
